Postural Correction & Pain Management

Fascial Release for Structural Balance combines manual therapy skills with the exciting new field of structural therapy, which employs the unique and newly discovered properties of fascial tissues.

Fascia, our biological fabric, plays a vital role in support, posture, and stability. Through informed assessment and manipulation of fascial patterns, we can help eradicate many of our clients' chronic strain patterns-for good.

This very effective therapy combines Soft Tissue massage, Mobilisation and Manipulations techniques, Trigger point Therapy, Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques, MET with stretching to relieve chronic connective tissue and muscle pain.

Myofascial restrictions can occur as a result of connective tissue disorders such as fibromyalgia, trauma, inflammatory responses to injury or stress, poor posture, the development of post-surgical adhesions, and scar tissue.

While myofascial restrictions can cause severe pain, their occurrence isn’t always apparent on standard imaging tests.

Fascial Release Therapy is used to treat connective tissue disorders, headaches, menstrual cramps, sports injuries, back pain, post-operative and post-trauma pain, arthritic disorders, whiplash, and carpal tunnel syndrome.

Myofascial Release Procedure

During a session, we will apply hands-on massage strokes in order to release tension from the fibrous bands of the muscles, bones, nerves and joints, by unblocking any scar tissue or adhesions due to injury in the muscles and surrounding tissues. Myofascial release involves a variety of techniques, which are used depending on the unique needs of the client. We use our fingers, knuckles, elbows, or forearms to manipulate fascia.

Treatment is performed directly on skin without the use of oils or mechanical devices. The hands-on approach allows our trained therapists to pinpoint affected areas and apply appropriate pressure to facilitate myofascial release. Light to moderate traction and kneading or twisting strokes are used to unblock, stretch and loosen restricted fascia and muscle. Stretches are typically maintained for two minutes and often repeated until the muscle is completely released. Clients may be instructed to take deep breaths to facilitate muscle relaxation.

Myofascial release massage typically lasts from 60-90 minutes. While clients may notice immediate benefits, some individuals notice pain or soreness that persists for a day or two before they notice relief. Soreness is caused by the sudden release of metabolic toxins that were trapped in the blocked tissue. These toxins can also cause lightheadedness, nausea and fatigue.

Clients are advised to drink plenty of water for 24 hours following their procedure to help flush out toxins. It’s also helpful to spend some time in a sauna or steam room before this therapy to help loosen muscles. Patients are also advised to perform stretching exercises between massage sessions.

Boost your Digestive System with Anmo Fu

Anmo Fu is an oil based massage of the abdominal area. It has been developed to release torsions and twists in the bowel area and rebalance the internal organs.

Anmo Fu is especially useful for:

• IBS and other digestive imbalances such as constipation,    diarrhoea, bloating, fluid retention

• Low Back pain

• Stress-related conditions

• Emotional problems

• Detoxification

Disruption in the functioning of the spleen, gall bladder, liver, kidneys and intestines can be caused by a number of factors including: stress, structural imbalances due to accidents or injury, poor diet and poor posture, all leading to this area becoming tight and knotted.

In the West, this area is also known as the second brain of the body. Blockages and restrictions here cause energy stagnation and reduce the efficiency of the whole body system.

In energy terms, where there is stagnation, there is pain and the consequences of this can be quite diverse, not only in physical symptoms such as digestive imbalances, menstrual problems, headaches, infertility, fatigue, stiffness, back pain and pelvic problems but also emotionally, causing irritability, anger, depression, anxiety, fear and fright as toxins in the system build up.

What happens during an Anmo Fu treatment?

The first part of the Anmo Fu treatment consists of a series of muscle tests and palpation to ascertain internal organ imbalance and areas of tension or torsion.

Massage is then applied to the abdomen, using oil, which

unwinds tension in the connective tissue,

releases areas of trapped gas, fluid and toxins from    the system

improves the blood and Qi (energy) flow to the area allows the digestive process to return to normal

increasing nutritional uptake

Muscle tests are used to check that the work has been completed.

Anmo Fu tends to promote an improved feeling of well-being and energy, along with a reduction in discomfort.

A treatment can take around 45 minutes and can be combined with other therapies.

Anmo Fu can be experienced as a one-off treatment but if you are experiencing digestive symptoms then a series of treatments may be required.
